Lecture Recess

After getting back from the best lecture recess ever! it was time to crack back down on the books and finish the long haul to the end of the semester which was coming along way to quickly! Now the end of a semester in Australia in NOTHING like the end of the semester in the US where your teachers either make the final a take home project or your last test, here down under they make your final like 60 percent of your grade! needless to say us americans struggle with that concept and who wants to study when your in the best country in the world! so when I should have been beginning to go over every thing i learned that semester me and a few of my friends were planing to go back to Brisbane and go see John Mayer in concert and go to a little festival we heard of near this amazing little surfing spot called Byron Bay! our trip was going to consist of us flying to Brissy taking the train to our aussie's friends, friends house where we would spend the night and then head to the concert that night and off to Byron bay the next morning where we would surf it up in the AM and then head to the little town of Nimbin for MardiGrass festival then back in time to catch the bus to brissy then to the place we were staying and hop on the plane the next morning...well that was the plan any way... little did we know what was in store for us once we landed!
We head to the airport in the afternoon totally excited for our adventurous weekend ahead and after a short 4 hour flight I find myself back in the Brisbane airport and we head up to the train to take it to the girls house we would be staying, we get off at our stop and find out she was at a doctors appointment and why not head in town and go to an irish pub under the street for some food and drinks, well we ended up being down there for two hours! once we resurfaced we shopped around and headed back to her house where we drank and ate some more. One of her roommates had a pet snake which i thought was the coolest thing ever and proceeded to eat dinner with it curled up under my shirt, totally nonchalantly, and if they didn't reminded me i would have forgotten the little guy was there! after dinner we planned our night and decided to go to some clubs around town, where we found our selves getting free beers and probably way to many vodka lemon limes, it was a blast walking around with locals and feeling even more australian! at the last bar at some late hour in the night, we headed to the bathroom to find someone left their credit card in there after determining it wouldn't work for us I wound up finding a souvenir in my purse the next morning...after some brekky headed to meet my friend Tom's grandmother over in downtown Brisbane, which was pretty cool! after our little journey we eagerly headed back to the apartment to get ready for the trip to the concert to see John MAYER! he put on an amazing show and it was a thousand times cooler seeing him there in Australia!!!
